I've definitely heard folks 'round here call it that. I wouldn't say it's 'common' though.
Shut up, Chadwick. You haven't. No one's ever referred to it as a "jockey box". I bet Gillian Anderson was your babysitter too, right?
By the way, Chadwick, Gillian Anderson's wikipedia article says she was rebellious in high school and voted "most likely to be arrested" by her graduating class. How could you not expect to find her in your living room with two guys in leather jackets, smelling of weed?
